内容記述 | Japanese university students who are able to read at a rather high level naturally want to be able to talk about topics that are on the same level as their reading, but they lack the linguistic sophistication to do so. For years now English teachers in Japan have been discussing various problems that arise when we attempt to deal with this problem. We have explored such issues as having to use lecture halls for communication classrooms, large class sizes, and multi-level classes. This paper looks at another problem - students whose own ablities to handle the different skills are at different levels - and discusses the idea of using pictures and a storytelling technique to enable students to have the opportunity to expand their speaking abilities. We have also explored the idea of using honest, adult-to-adult discussions about grades to motivate students. | |||||
